Abstract:
To provide an interface detection method capable of accurately detecting an interface formed between particulate layers whose specific gravities are different.SOLUTION: A cation exchange resin and an anion exchange resin are separated by a specific gravity difference due to an upward flow in a cation regeneration column 2. The anion exchange resin represented as an upper layer is transferred to an anion exchange resin regeneration column 3 via a resin extraction part 5 and a resin transfer tube 6 and is regenerated with caustic soda. When the anion exchange resin is transferred to the anion resin regeneration column 3 while the resin is backwashed in a state the resin is backwashed and separated in the cation regeneration column 2, a backwashing flow rate is adjusted so that a resin interface (interface between the anion exchange resin and the cation exchange resin) is located at a location appropriate to the resin extraction 5. A resin interface of the cation regeneration column 2 is detected by a magnetostrictive sensor n10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
