Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute synthetic aperture radar equipment mounted on an airplane so that the equipment can obtain two kinds of pictures with one antenna and cannot be affected by the rolling angle of the airplane at the time of measuring topographical height with the equipment.
SOLUTION: By respectively using the point P1 at time t1 and point P2 at time t2 as first and second observation points and the line between the points P1 and P2 as a base line B, a beam from an antenna is radiated upon a point Q at the diagonal rear of an airplane and two kinds of pictures from the observation points are found. Based on the pictures, the difference between the distance rQ from the topographical point Q to be measured to the point P1 and the distance r2Q. from the point Q to the point P2 is found and the height of the point Q is found from the base line B.
