To provide an intermediate transfer belt that is flexible, has excellent toner releasability, achieves high transfer rate irrespective of the types of transfer media, prevents the occurrence of wear on edges of the belt for a long period, has excellent durability, and can form high-quality electrophotographic images; and a manufacturing method of the intermediate transfer belt.
A toner image obtained by developing a latent image formed on an image carrier with toner is transferred onto an intermediate transfer belt. The intermediate transfer belt includes: a base layer 11; an elastic layer 12 laminated on the base layer 11; and an edge protection layer 14 that is formed on an outermost surface of an elastic layer 12 and both edges of the intermediate transfer belt. The elastic layer 12 contains an elastic body and spherical resin particles 13; the spherical resin particles 13 are arranged in a surface direction on a surface of the elastic layer 12. The edge protection layer 14 contains resin.
