Abstract:

To provide an internal combustion engine control device having good emission control performance even right after starting.

The control device comprises an operating angle varying mechanism for varying the operating angle of an intake valve, a first motor for operating the operating angle varying mechanism, a phase angle varying mechanism for varying the phase angle of the intake valve, and a second motor for operating the phase angle varying mechanism. Right after starting an internal combustion engine, the single drive quantities of the first and second motors are the maximum values C, D. In others than that, a drive quantity A is calculated in accordance with a deviation between a target timing and a current timing for the intake valve.
