Abstract:

To provide an internal combustion engine that includes a balancer, gear-driven from a crankshaft, in order to suppress vibration of the internal combustion engine, and also, to reduce gear noise due to the gear drive, and a control method for the same.

An internal combustion engine includes: a primary balancer 12 that reversely rotates with respect to the rotation of a crankshaft 4 via a gear driving device 11 from the crankshaft 4; an electric motor 14 that reversely rotates with respect to the rotation of the crankshaft 4 via a belt driving device 13 from the primary balancer 12; an auxiliary flywheel 15 on a rotary shaft of the electric motor 14 via a clutch 16; a tensioner 20 for holding the tensile force of a belt 13b of the belt driving device 13; and an ECU 18 that switches the electric motor 13 from power running drive to regenerative drive or from the regenerative drive to the power running drive when the tensile force of the belt 13b fluctuates, and synchronizes the rotation fluctuation of at least one of the electric motor 14, reversely rotating with respect to the rotation of an engine 1, and the auxiliary flywheel 15 with the rotational fluctuation of the engine 1.
