PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the starting performance of an internal combustion engine, and to efficiently utilize a combustion heater.
SOLUTION: In this internal combustion engine having a combustion heater 22 arranged to heat an engine related element by heat obtained by burning fuel, when the internal combustion engine is started, the combustion gas of the combustion heater 22 is introduced to the turbine 6b of a turbocharger arranged on an exhaust pipe through an EGR pipe 20 and intake air is supercharged by a compressor by rotating the turbine 6b, thus the starting performance of the internal combustion engine can be improved.
