Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a higher efficient internal combustion engine for a saddle-riding type vehicle.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine comprises a piston reciprocating in a cylinder, a valve train operating an intake valve for opening and closing an intake port and an exhaust valve for opening and closing an exhaust port, a supercharger compressing intake air, a throttle valve regulating an intake air amount, and an injector injecting fuel. The intake port and the exhaust port are formed at an upper side in a cylinder axial direction than a top dead center of the piston, and the throttle valve is arranged at a downstream side in an intake air flow direction of the supercharger. During the piston makes one reciprocation from the top dead center to a next top dead center, the valve train operates the intake valve and the exhaust valve such that there is a valve overlap period in which both the exhaust valve and the intake valve are opened, the injector injects fuel into the cylinder after closing of the exhaust valve, and an air-fuel mixture is combusted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
