Abstract:
To provide an internal combustion engine for a saddle-riding type vehicle, in which maintainability can be enhanced while enhancing protection of the sides of the vehicle including a fuel pump, by shortening the length of a fuel pipe for feeding fuel from the fuel pump to a fuel injection valve to compactify a routing space of the fuel pipe.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine is mounted on a saddle-riding type vehicle 1 and includes: a cylinder head 26; a head cover 27; a fuel injection valve 46 having a distal end facing a combustion chamber 33; a cam shaft 39; a fuel pump 42 for pressure-feeding fuel by the action of a cam lobe 39b of the cam shaft 39; a fuel pump mounting member 70 fixed to the cylinder head 26, on which the fuel pump 42 is mounted; and a downstream side fuel pipe 44 for feeding fuel from the fuel pump 42 to the fuel injection valve 46 and having flexibility. The length of the fuel pipe is shortened to compactify a routing space of the fuel pipe, so that the maintainability is enhanced while enhancing protection of the sides of the vehicle including the fuel pump.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
