Abstract:
An internal combustion engine with improved combustion stability through accelerated mixing of premix gas in a cylinder is provided. This internal combustion engine (1) is equipped with: a piston (13) that moves back and forth inside a cylinder liner (9); a cylinder cover (11) that is disposed on one end of the cylinder liner (9); an exhaust valve (12) that is disposed on the cylinder cover (11); scavenging ports (10) that are disposed on the other end of the cylinder liner (9); and premixing gas valves (30) that are disposed on the cylinder cover (11) and inject fuel gas into the cylinder formed by the cylinder liner (9) and cylinder cover (11). The premixing gas valves (30) are disposed on the cylinder cover (11) and inject the fuel gas at a high pressure toward the piston (13) after the piston (13) has closed the scavenging ports (10).
