To simplify a mechanism for increasing the production quantity of hydrogen by improving reaction efficiency when inducing a dehydrogenation reaction using energy of exhaust gas and causing the dehydrogenation reaction.
An internal combustion engine using hydrogen comprises a casing 74 introduced inside an exhaust passage 14 of an internal combustion engine 10 with an end disposed outside the exhaust passage 14, a catalyst 72 installed inside the casing 74, a fuel supply means 24 installed at the end of the casing 72 for supplying organic hydride containing fuel to the catalyst 72 and a hydrogen supply means 18 for supplying the internal combustion engine 10 with hydrogen taken out from the organic hydride containing fuel by the dehydrogenation reaction on the catalyst 72.
