Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing the deterioration of durability of liquid gasket, without decreasing the fastening force of a fastening bolt.SOLUTION: On a cylinder head 12 of an internal combustion engine, a first chain cover 18 and a second chain cover 19 are fixed by fastening bolts 20, and a chain is disposed in a space formed by the chain covers 18 and 19. An inside surface 31 of the first chain cover 18 is provided with a first flange 36 positioned at a specific edge portion 35A, and a first boss 38 adjacent to the first flange 36. The cylinder head 12 is provided with a second flange 52 clipping an FIPG 23 with the first flange 36, and a second boss 54 coaxially disposed with the first boss 38. Grooves 39 and 55 are respectively provided between the first flange 36 and the first boss 38, and between the second flange 52 and the second boss 54.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
