Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an internal combustion engine with excellent operation characteristic by combinating variation in intake valve operation characteristic with variation in the volume of an intake system.
CONSTITUTION: A valve system mechanism 3 constructed in such a way as capable of changing opening/closing operation characteristic of an intake valve 2 response to engine speed is interlocked and connected to the intake valve 2 which opens and closes an intake valve port 1. An intake passage 9 is communicated with an intake port 4 provided in an engine main body E, in linkage to the intake valve port 1. An additional intake air volume is connected to the intake passage 19 via opening/closing valves 21, 22 which open and close in response to the engine speed.
