Abstract:
To provide an internal combustion engine capable of strengthening a tumble flow in a double-valve type internal combustion engine comprising a single suction port and a single exhaust port.SOLUTION: An engine 10 comprises: a cylinder bore 13 in which a piston is accommodated; a combustion chamber 15 which is formed inside of the cylinder bore 13; a single suction valve 18 and a single exhaust valve 19 which are disposed with respect to the combustion chamber 15; and a suction port 16 and an exhaust port 17. In the engine, a swirl flow S is formed in the combustion chamber 15 by sucking air from the suction port 16 in a suction process. The engine also comprises a compressed air injector 21 which is provided between the suction port 16 and the exhaust port 17 and forms a tumble flow T in the combustion chamber 15 by injecting compressed air towards a bore wall 11A in the combustion chamber 15 in the suction process. The compressed air injected by the compressed air injector 21 is made interfere the swirl flow S, and the swirl glow is drawn into the tumble flow T.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
