Abstract:
To provide an internal combustion engine which makes water less likely to accumulate in a gap etc. between an insertion hole and a fastening member.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes a cover 20. The cover 20 is attached to an engine body 10 by inserting a fastening member 21 which penetrates through a through hole 25 of the cover 20 into an insertion hole 26 of the engine body 10. The cover 20 includes: a recessed part 22 which includes a bottom wall 23 having the through hole 25 and a side wall 24 erected from a peripheral edge of the bottom wall 23 and is recessed toward the engine body 10; and a groove 27 which is provided at the side facing the engine body 10. In a state that the engine body 10 is mounted on a vehicle, the insertion hole 26 inclines to the vehicle lower side from a tip to a base of the fastening member 21 as seen in an insertion direction. The side wall 24 inclines to the vehicle lower side from a base to a tip as seen in its erection direction. The groove 27 extends from the through hole 25 to the vehicle lower side while communicating with a gap between the insertion hole 26 and the fastening member 21 through the through hole 25.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
