Abstract:

To provide an internal short circuit detector for secondary cell, capable of suppressing heat generation of a cell during charge and discharge by detecting internal short circuit in the cell for earlier detection of internal short circuit.

The internal short circuit detector for secondary cell comprises: a charge/discharge section 2 that repeats energization and non-energization of a charge current or discharge current into/from a secondary cell; a voltage monitoring section 3 that monitors a voltage drop in the secondary cell during non-energization; and a determination section 4 that determines that internal short circuit occurs in the secondary cell when the voltage drop monitored by the voltage monitoring section 3 is above a preset threshold voltage.
