NEW MATERIAL:An isobenzofuran derivative of formulaI[X, R1, R2 are monovalent substituent (for example, X is halogen, alkyloxy, aryloxy, alkylthio, arylthio; R1, R2 are lower alkyl, halogen); m is 0W5 integer; n is 0W3 integer].
EXAMPLE: 3-Benzyliden-5-chloroformyl-1(3H)-isobenzofuran.
USE: Starting material for various kinds of organic synthetic products: especially the starting material for heat-resistant polyamidebenzopyrolone resins showing high solubility in various kinds of organic solvent.
PREPARATION: A compound of formula II reacts witha phenylacetic acid to give the compound of formulaI. Or the reaction of a compound of formula II (X is H) with a phenylacetic acid is followed by action of a halogenating reagent on the product of formula III to give a compound of formula IV (Y is halogen).
