To obtain the subject new substance having excellent antimicrobial activity, antimycotic activity and antitumor activity, thus useful as an antimicrobial agent, antimycotic agent or antitumor agent.
This new substance is a IT-143 substance (salt thereof) of the formula (R is H or methyl). In this substance of the formula, when R is methyl, the substance has the following physicochemical characteristics: disposition: lightly yellow oily substance; molecular formula: C29H43NO4; molecular weight: 469; specific rotatory power [α]D25:-13.9 (in methanol, at a concentration of c=0.18); solubility: soluble to methanol, chloroform, acetone, ethyl acetate, dimethyl sulfoxide, insoluble to water. This substance of formula I is obtained by culturing bacteria belonging to the genus Streptomyces (pref. Streptomyces sp. IT-143 strain) and then recovering the resultant cultured product.
