To provide a jig and method for working a cylinder block capable of uniformly applying a surface pressure to a circumferential rim part of a bore by a bead part, even when a dummy head is deformed during bolt fastening.
When a dummy head 100 is mounted on an upper surface of a cylinder block 200, in a bead part 130, for example, the thickest part 131 is disposed at an inter-axis part between adjacent bores 201, and the thinnest part 132 is disposed separated from the inter-axis part by about 90 degrees in the circumferential direction. When performing bolt fastening of the dummy head 100, a body 110 is convexly distorted to the side opposite the direction toward the bore 201. Because the bead part 130 has a shape in which the deformation of the body 110 is taken into account, the body 110 is deformed while all parts 131 to 133 of the bead part 130 abut against the circumferential rim part of the bore 201.
