Title:
JOINING METHOD OF TITANIUM ALLOY MEMBER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3511749
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a joining method having a simple and high reliability by interposing a Ti sheet of ≤ a specified thickness between Ti alloy members, butting both members, heating at the temp. close to but lower than a transforma tion temp. while adding the pressure ≥ a specified pressure in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and holding for a prescribed period of time.
SOLUTION: Joining is performed by interposing the Ti sheet 3 of ≤500μm in thickness between two Ti alloy tubes 1 to be joined, butting both members, heating the joining part at the high temp. near but lower than the transformation temp. of the Ti alloy while adding the pressure ≥5MPa to the joining face in the nonoxidizing atmosphere and holding for at least three minutes. When interposing the Ti sheet 3 for joining between two Ti alloy tubes 1, butting both members and heating the joining part while adding the pressure to the joining face, Ti atoms of the Ti sheet are diffused into the end surface of both side Ti alloy tubes 1, whereby joining is performed by solid phase diffusion. When the heating temp. is lower than respective transformation temperatures, no structural change is generated in base Ti alloy tubes 1.
