Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a rolling method and rolling mill for making linear pressure distribution uniform between rolls in work roll cross rolling and for preventing fatigue fracture and wear of roll.
CONSTITUTION: Concave crowns for uniformizing the linear pressure distribution between work rolls 21, 22 generated when work rolls 21, 22 are crossed with each other are formed on the upper and lower back-up rolls 23, 24 of a cross roll rolling mill 20 in which rolling is executed by slightly crossing only the upper and lower work rolls 21, 22. Equivalent convex roll crown generated when the work rolls 21, 22 are crossed is cancelled by this concave crown and the linear pressure distribution between the rolls is made uniform. In this way, the fatigue fracture on the roll surface and roll wear are prevented.
