To provide a method for judging skin irritation of a substance having a shape such as a fiber product, a tape material etc., which is directly brought into contact with skin or is used in a covered state of skin, substitutable for a patch test.
This judging method is (1) a process for placing a sample piece of a fiber product on the surface of an epidermis of a skin model and (2) a process for culturing the skin model in this state. A culture skin already disclosed by this applicant can be preferably cited as the skin model. The skin model can be obtained by using a sponge as tissue culture substrates composed of two kinds of polymers having bio-compatibility different at least in cross- linking degree, inoculating a fibroblast into one substrate having a higher cross- linking degree, culturing the fibroblast, piling the other substrate having a lower cross-linking degree on the substrate, inoculating a keratinized cell into the substrate and culturing the keratinized cell.
