Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for use in exercise therapy for improving cognitive function.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, there is provide a composition comprising carotenoid for use in exercise therapy for improving cognitive function, in particular exercise therapy for hippocampal neurogenesis. The carotenoid is preferably astaxanthin. More preferably, the astaxanthin is derived from Haematococcus. Preferably, the composition is continuously ingested for at least four weeks. The exercise therapy is preferably a low intensity exercise, especially an exercise below a ventilatory work threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: None
