Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel production method for obtaining an α-olefin having a tetrahydrofuran ring from a relatively inexpensive raw material with high versatility, in high yields.SOLUTION: According to a method for producing an α-olefin, from a primary alcohol represented by formula (1) as a starting material, a terminal hydroxy group is converted to a leaving group, and the leaving group is eliminated, to obtain a corresponding α-olefin having a tetrahydrofuran ring represented by formula (2) [R is H or a C1-5 hydrocarbon group; n is an integer of 2-6].SELECTED DRAWING: None
