Abstract:
To provide a laser light source capable of freely designing wavelength thereof in a wavelength band not yet put to practical use in semiconductor laser, by combining a high-efficient nonlinear optical crystal and a high-outputting optically communicating semiconductor laser.
The laser light source comprises: a first laser of generating a laser beam of wavelength λ1; a second laser of generating a laser beam of wavelength λ2; and a nonlinear optical crystal which inputs the laser beam of wavelength λ1and the laser beam of wavelength λ2and outputs a coherent beam of wavelength λ3of difference frequency having a relation of 1/λ1-1/λ2=1/λ3, wherein the wavelength λ1is 0.9 to 1.0 μm, the nonlinear optical crystal has a polarization-reversal structure of a period of one and, when the wavelength λ2varies between 1.3 to 1.8 μm, the wavelength λ3of difference frequency varies between 3.1 to 2.0 μm.
