This latch device includes: a housing 1; a sliding body 2 which has a cam groove 27 and an abutment portion 22 abutting on a member 9 to be engaged/disengaged, and which is arranged in such a manner as to protrude from/recede into the housing; a spring member 4 which urges the sliding body 2 in the direction of protrusion from the housing; the engaging body 3 which is turnably supported on the sliding body, and which can switch between a locking position to make the member 9 lockable by protruding a claw portion 32 onto the abutment portion 22, and an unlocking position to recede from the top of the abutment portion 22; and a pin member 5 which traces the cam groove. The engaging body 3 includes the claw portion 32, and a protrusion 33 which maintains a predetermined gap from the claw portion, which is protruded in the same direction as that of the claw portion, and which forms a pivoting portion 35 turnably supported on the sliding body 2. The abutment portion 22 is positioned between the claw portion 32 and the protrusion 33 in the state of being supported on the sliding body 2 and arranged in the locking position.
