PURPOSE: To mechanize and automate operation, when a heavy article is laterally turned in various operation lines, by constituting a device in such a way that the article can be turned by a prescribed angle in the horizontal direction, in addition to the motion by which the article is laterally turned in the horizontal position by turning an arm in the vertical direction.

CONSTITUTION: An article is supported by a laterally turnable supporting body 21 whose lower part is provided with a supporting member 30 for placing the article in the upright position so as to be turnable in the horizontal direction via a supporting axis part 22, and the supporting body 21 is driven by an air cylinder 24 via an arm 23. Further, the supporting axis part 22 is fitted to the one end of a laterally turning arm 27 that has been turnably supported via a supporting axis part 26 to a supporting pillar 25. It is so constituted that the lateral turning action of the supporting body 21 is carried out by changing the axis of the laterally turning arm 27 in the vertical state or in the horizontal state by the action of an air cylinder 28 that has been connected to the other end of the arm 27. Thus, the supporting body 21 is turnedly driven in the horizontal direction, and also is laterally turnedly driven in the vertical direction by the air cylinder 28 making a center of the supporting axis part 26.
