PURPOSE: To provide a lathe with Y-axis function which can use a turret carriage in the case of a specification having no Y-axis in common with the case of having the Y-axis, and improve the rigidity, and easily attach and detach a ball screw in the case of maintenance.

CONSTITUTION: In the lathe with Y-axis function, a X-axis feed base 16 is installed on the X-axis guide 18 of a bed 1, and a turret carriage 17 is installed on a Y-axis guide provided on the X-axis feed base 16, and in the case where the X-axis feed base 16 has been removed, the turret carriage 17 can be directly installed on the X-axis guide 18. In addition, the housing 31 of the turret carriage 17 is divided into a housing body 31 and a bracket 32. The bracket 32 is detachably attached to the housing body 31, and formed in a U-shaped structure where the nut 22a of a ball screw 22 for feeding the turret carriage is held-in from the back side of the housing body 31. The housing body 31 is provided with an axial direction locking face 39a to engage the axial direction face of the bracket 32.
