Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an LD module simple in constitution in the case of testing the loss of a multimode optical fiber.
CONSTITUTION: The light 11 emitted from a semiconductor laser 1 is made incident into an aspherical lens 3. The aspherical lens 3 makes the emitted light 11 incident on the incident end 2A of a multimode optical fiber 2 on the condition of a numerical aperture larger than 0.11 and the total half-value width of an incident beam spot wider than 26μm. By measuring the optical power at the light emitting end 2B of the multimode optical fiber 2, the loss per a unit length of the multimode optical fiber 2 is tested.
