PURPOSE: To obtain, a lead-containing polymer excellent in conductivity, transparency and moldability and protective against radiation by dissolving an organolead compound in a mixture comprising specified amounts of specified monomers and subjecting the resulting solution to radical polymerization.

CONSTITUTION: 0.2-30 pts.wt. organolead compound (e.g. lead acetate trihydrate) is dissolved in a monomer mixture comprising 50-80 pts.wt. methyl methacrylate, 5-40 pts.wt. (meth)acrylic acid, 5-20 pts.wt. quaternary ammonium salt of the formula (wherein R is 1-3 C alkyl; and X is Cl-, Br- or OH), and the resulting solution is subjected to radical polymerization.
