The lever function-improving agent comprises as the effective ingredient the fermented product obtained by a fermentation treatment of carrots. The fermented product obtained by the fermentation treatment of carrots is useful, as it exhibits excellent hepatopathy-inhibiting and hepatocyte-activating actions and can be utilized as a hepatopathy-inhibiting agent and a hepatocyte-activating agent. These effects permit the realization of more excellent lever function-improving effects compared with carrots before fermented. These more excellent effects are attained by fermentation using a lactobacillus.
