Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dead space of a light guide plate by improving light utilization efficiency of a surface light source device.SOLUTION: A light guide plate 33 has a light incident surface 34 for introducing light on an end surface of a thin plate-like light guide plate body 33a, and has a light emission surface 35 for emitting light to the outside on an upper surface of the light guide plate body 33a. On an upper surface of a light incident side end part 33b of the light guide plate body 33a, a directivity conversion part 37 is provided so as to project from the upper surface of the light guide plate body 33a. The directivity conversion part 37 comprises: first and second inside inclined surfaces 38, 38 for broadening the directional characteristics of the introduced light to a lateral direction with respect to the direction perpendicular to the light incident surface 34 respectively in the directivity conversion part; and first and second outside inclined surfaces 39, 39 for changing the directional characteristics of the light broadened in the lateral direction by the inside inclined surface 38 into a directional characteristic in which an angle formed with the light incident surface 34 respectively is small. Also, on the light emission surface 35 of the light guide plate 33, a lenticular lens 36 is provided.
