To provide a light shielding device and an on-vehicle display system capable of shielding light as the need arises with respect to an on-vehicle display device exhibiting considered space-saving efficiency.
When it is is light around and the display device 9 is hard to see, external light entering the display device from the surrounding is shielded by operating a light shielding part 12 to be in a light shielding state. When the surrounding is dark and light shielding is not required, the light shielding part 12 is in a stored state and light shielding is released. Thereby, an image displayed on the display device can be virtually recognized easily even when the surrounding is light. When light shielding is not required, the light shielding part 12 is stored, and thereby the light shielding device exhibiting excellent space-saving efficiency can be achieved.
