Beams from each light emission point of a semiconductor laser array 301 are made incident on a cylinder lens 113 after passing through a liquid micro lens 302, a coupling lens 303 and converged on a deflecting surface 106 of a polygon mirror. Each beam reflected on the polygon mirror is made incident on an fθ lens 120, crossed in the vicinity of a toroidal lens 122 again and imaged so as to be predetermined pitch on the photoreceptor drum face. A subscanning position is compensated by the liquid micro lens 302.
