Abstract:
PURPOSE: To project projection light in both an axial and an end surface directions at the same time by a single light source device and to control the intensity of the projection light.
CONSTITUTION: The light source device 10 consists of a rod 12 which has its outer peripheral surface coated with diffusion stripes extending in the axial direction and also has a lamp 24 with a reflecting mirror arranged on its incidence end surface; and the projection end surface 40 of the rod 12 is formed selectively into a polished surface and a diffusion surface having different roughness and the polished surface or different-roughness diffusion surface is properly selected according to the intensity of the required projection light. Further, the projection end surface 40 is formed selectively into a flat surface, a convex surface, and a concave surface, which are properly selected according to the intensity of the required projection light.
