Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a light wave length filter device with such simple construction that a specified wave length can be selected without depending upon the polarization surface of incidence light.
CONSTITUTION: A light incident on a polarization beam splitter 42 through a light circulator 46 is separated as a polarization light intersected at right angle to a polarization surface, emitted as first and second light signals, which transmit first and second light paths 48 and 50 of a polarization holding fiber, and enter TE/TM mode transformation elements 40 in advancing directions reverse to each other. Only a polarization of a specified wave length corresponding to the frequency A of a grating 56 is transformed into the polarization of a polarization surface intersected at right angle to a polarization surface at the time of light incident. The first and second return light signals emitted from the transformation element 40 to the second and first light paths 50 and 48 are incident again on the polarization beam splitter 42 for combination of waves.
