To achieve psychological stability of a user in an automobile cabin while improving comfortableness in the automobile cabin.
A lighting device for an automobile includes a room lamp 20 and map lamps 24, 26 that are housed in a case 10. Each of the lamps is switch-operated by a touch switch in which a lighting lens 12 is used as a touch panel. The lighting lens 12 has touch parts 28, 30, and 32 that correspond to respective lamps. The switch operation of the lamps is performed by contact of a human body with respective touch parts. For each of the touch parts, a symbol mark 34 is drawn on a surface on the case 10 side of the lighting lens 12 with grooves. When light-emitting diodes 42 for symbols provided on the right and left of the lighting lens 12 are lit, the symbol marks 34 are luminous and in a display state. Control for switching between lighting and extinction of the light-emitting diodes 42 for symbols is performed based on the detection of a human body with a use of an infrared sensor.
