To provide a linear actuator having improved assembling accuracy and workability.
A first shell 12 and a second shell 13 parted in the axial direction of a shaft 30 having a male screw portion 31 are assembled together middle to middle to form a housing 11. A motor 47 is mounted on the opposite side to the parted face of the first shell 12. A terminal 50 is protruded from the motor 47 to the parted face side of the first shell 12 until the terminal 50 is exposed to a female coupler portion 53 of the second shell 13. Assembling work is performed while seizing the conditions of various components including a one-way clutch, a brake, a worm wheel and a bearing, resulting in improved assembling workability. Automatic fabrication of a direct coupler with the first shell and the second shell assembled together middle to middle reduces the number of components and assembling man-hours.
