To improve reliability and further reduce switching time by allowing a carriage to support a coil winding that can be loaded by current and at the same time providing a magnetic element at a bearing part for enabling the magnetic element to move in cooperation with the coil winding that is loaded by current.
A linear drive device 9 has a bearing part 2 at nearly a fixed position, thus guiding a carriage 1 in or around the bearing part 2 so that it can be moved. Also, the bearing part 2 has a magnetic element 5. Then, the magnetic element 5 and a coil winding 4 being mounted around the movable carriage 1 cooperate as follows. More specifically, a magnetic field is generated at the coil winding 4 when current is applied. The carriage 1 leaves the bearing part 2 toward right as shown by an arrow 90 owing to the magnetic field. In this manner, the desired movement of the linear drive device 9 is executed.
