This linear motor drive type compressor comprises a stationary inner yoke 50 for forming a compression space 38 for compressing refrigerant gas and a movable core 52 also serving as a movable compression cylinder; a plurality of magnets 56, 58 arranged in a manner to change polarity in a moving direction of the movable core 52; an outer yoke 60 arranged outside the movable core 52; and a coil 62 arranged to the outer yoke 60. This linear motor drive type compressor is adapted to change flows of magnetic fluxes A, B generated to the coil 62 when an alternating current is applied to the coil 62 by polarity of the magnets 56, 58 arranged to the movable core 52, so as to generate an absorbing force causing a reciprocating movement to the movable core 52.
