To provide a universal linker capable of synthesizing nucleic acid having a hydroxy group at a 3' terminal, a universal support carrying the linker, and a synthesis method of nucleic acid using the universal support.
There is provided a linker for solid phase synthesis of nucleic acid comprising a compound expressed by general formula [wherein X1 and X2 each independently represent a protecting group of a hydroxy group, which is dissociated by acid; L1 and L2 each independently represent a linkage moiety that is cleaved by alkali; R1 to R6 each independently represent hydrogen, 1-6C alkyl optionally substituted by 1-6C alkoxy, 1-6C alkoxy, 1-7C acyl, mono or di-(1-6C)alkylamino, or halogen, or R2 and R5 are bonded together with a carbon atom bonded thereto to form a 3- to 8-membered carbocycle or heterocycle optionally substituted respectively by a substituent selected from (1) oxo, (2) 1-6C alkyl optionally substituted by a 1-6C alkoxy, and (3) phenyl optionally substituted by a 1-6C alkoxy-carbonyl].
