Abstract:

To provide a novel resin composition usable for formation of a liquid crystal alignment layer and the like having good characteristics, and containing a maleimide-based polymer; and to provide a liquid crystal alignment layer and the like, and a novel compound according to the same.

In the resin composition containing a maleimide-based polymer and a solvent, the maleimide-based polymer has a plurality of rigid linear structures intermittent in the main chain.
