NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (R is 1-20C alkyl which may be replaced with halogen or alkoxy; X is single bond, O, OCO, etc.; A and B are cyclic group; Y is single bond, COO, OCO, C≡C, CH=N, S-CH2, etc.; Z is single bond, O, COO or S; m is 1-18; W is single bond, CO or COO; R' is 1-18C alkyl which may be replaced with halogen or alkoxy).
EXAMPLE: 4'-(4-Ethyloxy-5,5,5-trifluoropentyloxy)phenyl-4-(n-decyloxy)henzoate.
USE: A liquid crystal compound having large spontaneous polarization.
PREPARATION: For example, a compound shown by formula II (p is 0-4) is reacted with a compound shown by formula III to give a compound shown by formula I wherein X is single bond or O, A is group shown by formula IV, Y is single bond, B is group shown by formula V and Z is 0.
