Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain good display characteristics and high reliability in a color liquid crystal device in which reflective display is possible.
SOLUTION: A reflection film (2), light shielding film (13), coloring layer (4), protective film (6) and transparent electrode (7) are successively formed on a substrate (1) having insulating property. Since the coloring layer (14) is formed to cover the reflection film (2), the reflection film (2) is protected from exposing toe a chemical liquid or the like. Further, since the coloring layer (4) is former to cover the light shielding film (13), not only the surface reflection of the light shielding film (13) is suppressed but the optical density required to the light shielding film (13) is low. Particularly in the reflection type display, light passes twice in the light shielding film so that the optical density of the light shielding film (13) may be lower and as a result, the light shielding film (13) can be made thin.
