Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which the light-shielding performance of a conductive light-shielding layer is improved and deterioration of the picture quality due to a current generated by leaking of light can be suppressed, and to provide a method for its production.
SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device, polycrystalline Si TFTs(thin film transistors) for driving pixel electrodes 31 are formed on a quartz glass substrate 11, and conductive light-shielding layers 27, 28 are formed at the position as an upper layer of the polycrystalline Si TFTs and as a lower layer of the pixel electrode 31. The conductive light-shielding layers 27, 28 are formed on a flattened interlayer insulating film 25. The interlayer insulating film 25 is flattened by CMP(chemical mechanical polishing) or the like.
