To provide, in a liquid crystal display device in which a protection electrode formed on a surface of an upper transparent substrate and wire electrodes of a lower transparent substrate are electrically connected with a conductive material provided on a side surface of a liquid crystal panel, a constitution which facilitates inspecting damage of the substrates and a connection state of the conductive material.
A liquid crystal display device comprises: a protection electrode 3 provided on an outer surface of an upper transparent substrate 1 constituting a liquid crystal panel; and terminal electrodes provided on a lower transparent substrate 2 for electrically connecting an external circuit with a plurality of wires 8 for providing a signal to pixel electrodes, a first discharge wire 5 and a second discharge wire 6 formed in outer sides than both side wires of the plurality of wires. In the conditions, in order that the first discharge wire 5, the second discharge wire 6, and the protection electrode 3 can be electrically connected, a conductive material 4 has come to be provided from between inner surfaces of the upper transparent substrate 1 and the lower transparent substrate 2 outside a seal material 9 through an end surface of the upper transparent substrate 1.
