Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3405519
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to manufacture a liquid crystal display device at a comparatively low cost in a high yield by varying a conductivity of a photo conductive layer by switching plural light source, switching an electric connection between a 2nd electrode layer and a 3rd electrode layer, and optically addressing to the liquid crystal layer.
SOLUTION: A gas in plasma emission channels 25a is ionized and plasma is generated by impressing an electrical discharge pulse voltage between a cathode 19a and an anode 19b in the plasma emission channels 25a. This light transmits a substrate 17 and a photo conductive layer 15 is irradiated with the light. Then, the photo-conductive layer 15 is increased in the conductivity to become a conductor, and a signal electrode 14 and an image electrode 16 are electrically connected. Next, when the voltage between the cathode 19a and anode 19b is switched off to stop the plasma emission, the photo-conductive layer 15 is decreased in the conductivity to become an insulator, and the signal electrode 14 and the image electrode 16 are insulated from each other. Thus, the plasma emission channels 25a are controlled to be ON/OFF, and a counter electrode 12 is made to be a single electrode.
