Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT WITH INPUT FUNCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3888335
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element with a high-performance input function which makes sufficient contrast obtainable by reducing the influence of the surface reflection by an input panel, liquid crystal cell, etc., in integrating the input panel to the liquid crystal cell of an FSTN type, and which makes display easily visible accordingly, and makes better black and white display possible.
SOLUTION: The reflective or translucent reflective liquid crystal display element is formed by integrating the input panel having a pair of electrodes for input isolated apart a specified spacing to the liquid crystal cell of the FSTN type, in which first and second polarizing plates are arranged to hold the input panel and the liquid crystal cell therebetween and a retardation plate consisting of an optically anisotropic polymeric film is brought into tight contact with the surface of the liquid crystal cell. A translucent reflection plate is arranged on the front surface of the polarizing plate on a lower side and a back light is installed thereunder.
