The hydrophilic monomer unit comprises a free carboxylic acid or acid salt unit and a reactive monomer unit selected from (a) a glycidyl monomer unit and (b) an anhydride monomer unit, the amount of the anhydride unit is <10 wt.% of the total monomer units or <19 wt.% of the total carboxylic acid monomer units.
