PURPOSE: To provide a liquid detergent compsn. which is prepd. by incorporating a fiber softening clay in addition to an aq. base, detergent active material and electrolyte into the compsn., maintains a relatively low viscosity, has long- term storage stability and is applied to washing and softness impartation of fibers.

CONSTITUTION: This objective compsn. contains (A) the aq. base, (B) the detergent active material, (C) the non-deflocculating/non-build type electrolyte of the amt. sufficient for suppressing the viscosity increase by clay compounding and (D) the fiber softening clay, has the viscosity of ≤2.5 pas (more preferably ≤1.75 pas) at a shearing rate of 21S-1 at 25°C and does not cause a phase sepn. of ≥2 vol.% when stored at 25°C for 21 days after the production.
