Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge apparatus which can control ink circulation with a small number of active elements and can be reduced in size.SOLUTION: A liquid discharge apparatus comprises: a liquid discharge head having a pressure chamber communicating with a nozzle for discharging a liquid, a liquid supply port, and a liquid discharge port; a first gas chamber which contains gas in contact with a liquid discharged from the liquid discharge port; a second gas chamber which contains gas in contact with a liquid supplied to the liquid supply port; a third gas chamber that can be communicated with the first gas chamber; a first opening/closing part for switching a communication state of the first gas chamber and the third gas chamber; a forth gas chamber which is connected to the second gas chamber so as to be communicated therewith and is communicated with the third gas chamber; a second opening/closing part for switching a communication state of the second gas chamber and the forth gas chamber; a third opening/closing part for opening and closing the forth gas chamber with respect to the atmosphere; and a first volume variable part for changing the volume of the forth gas chamber.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
